Gus
Our sweet, lovable Gus was born on July 14, 1995 near St. Louis, Missouri. Gus was named after the dog in the Disney movie, "Iron Will", who led his musher to victory in a sledding race. How did your dog get his name?
As Gus grew, he went to "puppy" school and won the "best retriever" award. Gus's favorite activities as an adult dog included swimming in the lake, retrieving his water log, and playing tug of war with HUGE sticks! What does your dog love to do?
Gus always loved holidays. Year after year, he followed our kids around the neighborhood trick-or-treating in his ghost costume, and on Christmas Day he unwrapped his presents all by himself! What was your dog's favorite holiday?
Barb and Geoff's children later added more "lovable tails" to the family with hamsters Ginger and Pipsqueak. Having gentle Gus in the family created a love of labradors for Barb & Geoff, and three years ago, they added four more feet to their household with Tucker, a yellow labrador retriever.

Gracie & Gus
When Gracie was born, Gus was older and calmer than he had been with our two older children. Gracie loved to dress Gus up in baby bibs, read books to him, climb all over him, and wrap him in baby blankets. He adored her and was her faithful companion.
When Gracie was old enough to go to school, Gus eased her fears by walking with her to the bus, where all the neighbors loved to pet him. Gus loved to greet Grace at the bus after school and run home with her. Do you have a favorite memory with your dog?
Gus lived until he was fifteen years old, and in August 2010, we said goodbye to him at Love Park. He slowed down in his older years, but he never stopped wagging his tail. We know he is waiting for us on the "Rainbow Bridge" where we will see him again one day. He will forever be in our hearts. What "lovable tail" is forever in your heart?

Special thanks to the family & friends that encouraged me to write about our story. A VERY special thanks to Chris Sharp for his unending patience, humor, and creative talent.
